I help parents of children with challenging behaviors that feel overwhelmed and helpless achieve the confidence to create an environment that helps their children THRIVE.
Let's be real... parenting is hard and admitting that it's hard doesn't mean you love your kids any less. It's hard to watch them struggle at home, at school, and in the community... It's hard because sometimes you're not sure how to help them. You know that your child wants to do well, but they struggle with meeting the world’s expectations. No-one seems to really get what it's like for them, or for you, and you feel alone in your quest to better understand.
Well, I have great news. I get you. I have felt all these things. I, too, am a parent and have a child that had BIG behaviors when she was younger. I am also an educator, counselor, and Parent Coach with over 25 years of experience working with children with challenging behaviors and their parents. I love joining with parents on their quest to learn how to better support their children. And even more great news, you know more than you think you do. So now what?
Let's explore together to learn more about your children's amazing brains, explore their needs (and strengths) by using the power of observation and collaborating with your child to create supportive strategies that work for them, and to promote supportive self-advocacy and independence. The more our children feel supported, the less challenging behaviors you will see. After all, it's not always about "behavior" management.
IF SO, You have come to the right place!
I am an educator, counselor, Parent coach, and speaker but most importantly, I am a proud parent of neurodivergent children.
I offer SpeciALTy Parent Coaching experiences focusing on neurodivergent individuals;
These individuals are often described as having "behavioral challenges" by the neurotypical world.
I focus on helping you to explore and better understand your child's unique neurotype and their unique needs.
Not only do I work directly with parents, I also offer consultation and trainings discussing and teaching about various topics pertaining to parenting or working with, and better understanding, neurodivergent individuals.
As many have said, "Dena Gets it".
Neuro= brain/nervous system
Diverge= to go in a different direction than most common
This describes a "different" way of understanding, processing, learning and interacting with the world. Different than what is considered "typical" and often seen as a "problem" ...
