1-2-3 Autism

This can be delivered as a 2 part series, OR both as an all day event! How would it fit YOUR Training needs?

1-2-3 Autism part 1

1-2-3 Autism part 2

1-2-3 Autism part 2

Overview: “If you've met one individual with autism, you've met one individual with autism.”- Stephen Shore.

Autism Spectrum Disorder is a very broad diagnosis categorized by a group of symptoms and a designation of the level of support needed. In this training we will discuss these characteristics/symptoms and support levels and explore how these levels affect daily life, school, and therapeutic participation. We will explore questions you can ask/discuss with parents/caregivers that will give you further insight about your unique client and how their challenges may be affecting behavior.

Objectives:

  • Learn about, and understand, basic characteristics/symptoms of Autism.
  • Understand the levels of support designation.
  • Understand the differences and similarities of each level of diagnosis.
  • Explore additional interview/assessment questions that will be helpful in developing effective treatment plans and creating relevant therapeutic activities.
  • Understand the importance of positive collaboration with other related services and how it will enhance the overall family experience.

1-2-3 Autism part 2

1-2-3 Autism part 2

1-2-3 Autism part 2

Overview: This training will discuss and explore how you can modify therapeutic and skill training activities by taking into consideration ASD Support level 1, 2, or 3  and chronological/developmental age. This training will demonstrate how to modify an example activity using an individual’s designated support level, chronological/developmental age, and further insights gained through parent/caregiver interview. You will participate in small groups to re-create an activity based on assigned variables described in a vignette and present to the large group.

Objectives:

  • Be able to modify an activity based on the child’s unique needs/challenges, support level of ASD diagnosis, and chronological/developmental age.
  • Learn about the types of parent/caregiver interview questions that will be helpful in designing and modifying activities.
  • Understand the importance of positive collaboration with other related services and how it will enhance the overall family experience.
